Video games (electronic games that can be played on one’s computer, television or any display screen) are popular today adolescents. Although games are fun and entertaining many people worry about the violent content within some games. Violent video gaming has been a huge topic of concern because people fear it will lead to aggressive behavior. Although there is considerable evidence that link violent video games to aggressive behavior and cognition, the interpretation of the connection differs in each study and the fact still remains, the debate is ongoing. In the United States, about 97% of teen’s between the ages of 12-17 play computer, web, portable, or console games with nearly 31% of the sample playing games every day and about 21% of them playing three to five days a week (Lenhart et al., 2008). There are many different game ratings but Mature (M) is one of the popular ratings. This particular ratings warns the buyer of the violence, blood, gore and language the game may include and is said to be for individuals that are 18 years and older. Typically, action and first person shooter games such as Call of Duty, Halo and Assassin’s Creed are rated M. Who are more interested in these kinds of games? According to Lenhart et al. (2008) 12-14 year olds equally play M-rated games as their 15-17 year old correspondents and 79% of these game players are boys.
